Almost all phone manufacturers seem to be launching “Plus” handset variants this year, and Micromax subsidiary YU isn’t an exception. The company first launched its YU Yureka handset late last year, and now, you can buy a “Plus” version of the device that packs a higher-resolution screen and some very minor spec improvements across the board…
The phone, much like its predecessor, sports a 5.5-inch screen, but this time comes in at a resolution of 1080 x 1920. The device has a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 system-on-a-chip, 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP camera, a 5 MP front shooter, a 2,500 mAh battery, dual-sim capability, and Cat. 4 4G LTE compatibility.
The phone runs a custom build of Cyanogen OS 12, based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It’s set to launch in both “Alabaster White” and “Moondust” variants. You’ll should be able to grab the device — exclusively in India, of course — on July 24th via the Indian Amazon website, at a price of Rs. 9,999 ($157). The original Yureka launched for a slightly-less Rs. 8,999.
Even if you’re not interested in this phone, YU has uploaded a drop test video… and it’s pretty intense:
