Pebble Time now available to pre-order from Best Buy for $200

Pebble has a long-time friendship with Best Buy, and now the smartwatch maker is launching the first widespread availability of its new Pebble Time through the retailer. Available for $200, the standard 22mm non-steel version of the watch is now available for consumers to put their claim on red, black, and white models.

While the Kickstarter Edition just recently began shipping to those who backed the watch, those just now realizing that they would actually like a smartwatch that has a color e-paper display, more than 5 days of battery life, and cross-platform compatibility are in luck:

We recently reviewed the Pebble Time, saying that while it does have its upsides, it still feels stuck in the past compared to the currently-available Android Wear devices and the Apple Watch. Long battery life is nice, but the lack of a touch screen and sketchy compatibility with iOS hold the device back—especially at this price point.

Fairphone 2 is less like Project Ara, more like a movement to build fairer electronics

The Fairphone 2 is an interesting concept, and its promotional video might have you believe that the company just wants to jump in and compete with Project Ara before Google gets to even introduce its modular phone. But while the Fairphone 2 is definitely modular in its own right (although not quite the same way Project Ara is), the phone represents a push across the board to rethink how smartphones are made—from mining to reusability…

OnePlus apologizes for pre-order problems, will offer another chance to order on November 17

Site default logo image

After months and months of inconsistent availability and controversial marketing techniques, the OnePlus One finally went up for official pre-order yesterday. As you’d expect however, the launch did not go as planned. The Chinese company’s site experienced a massive hit in traffic, causing it to be nearly impossible for customers to process an order, and even harder to tell if that order had actually gone through. This evening, OnePlus has published an apologetic blog post, explaining what exactly went wrong yesterday.

The Nexus Q originally received a mid-July shipping time, but Google apparently decided to go back to the drawing board over “initial feedback from users.”

Google is apologizing to those who pre-ordered the $299 Nexus Q by sending them a free one. The U.S.-made device is akin to an Android- and Google services-compatible Apple TV, but it does not run apps.

Google’s email is below.
