Right near the end of its recent Unpacked announcement, Samsung gave us a very brief glimpse at its upcoming wearable. The Gear S2 will be unveiled fully at IFA, Berlin in a few weeks’ time. And now Samsung has published a new teaser video to its YouTube channel.
The video shows all the highlights from the user interface; from watch faces, to weather, maps and stopwatch UI. It doesn’t at all look Android Wear based, and will probably feature Samsung’s own custom software. What’s more, we can be positive the device will ship with a built-in heart-rate monitor.
Unlike the Apple Watch, apps will be arranged in a ring of round thumbnails, and instead of a ‘Digital Crown’ it looks like Samsung is going with a rotating bezel. Keep watching right to the end of the video and you’ll see the bezel turning three times.

It’ll be interesting to see how Samsung envisages using this hardware feature. Will it be used to switch between apps and faces, or will its function change depending on which screen or app you’re in? Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait before we find out all the details.
