Huawei Watch finally available to pre-order, ships September 17 from $349

Huawei has finally confirmed officially where and when we can get our hands on its Android Wear smartwatch. The Huawei Watch was originally shown off at MWC in Barcelona, back in February. Now, at long last, you can pre-order it with prices ranging from $349 to $799. Huawei confirmed in a press release this morning that its devices are going on pre-order today. Customers in the US can purchase them from Amazon, Google Store and Best Buy.

Huawei Watch will come in stainless steel, black and rose gold-plated case options. The smartwatch features a 42mm metal case with standard 18mm lugs and a round face. What’s more, the physical button (much like the upcoming Moto 360) is placed at the 2 o’clock position. It’s built from 316L stainless steel and the 1.4-inch, 400×400 AMOLED display is coated in sapphire crystal.

“Designed first and foremost as a watch, the Huawei Watch is unlike any smartwatch available today,” said Zhiqiang Xu, President of Huawei Device USA. “We are committed to meeting U.S. consumers’ demands for premium products and the Huawei Watch is a step in that direction. It embodies Huawei’s technology innovation heritage, pursuit of premium design and integration of useful functionality that we strive to develop in each product.”

Other specs include a 300mAh battery and fast charging which Huawei states will charge the watch from 0-80 percent in just 45 minutes, or offer a full charge in 75 minutes. It has Bluetooth 4.1 LE, 6-axis motion sensors and a heart rate monitor. All in all, it’s a very well specced watch, and one which doesn’t cost the earth.

As it stands, at time of writing, only the black ($449) and silver ($399) stainless steel models with the matching stainless bands are available for order, but those options should be updated to include six models of Huawei Watch shortly. Rose gold versions won’t ship until later this year.
