Expand Expanding CloseWe are less than a month out from MWC 2017 and it would appear that Motorola is getting excited about the products they plan to show off. So excited, in fact, that the company has made its entire website in Germany into a countdown for the show. Oh, and the golden octopus? Your guess is as good as ours…
HMD Global, the Finnish company using the Nokia branding to make Android smartphones, has just opened up about its 2017 plans, and it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer to learn about what’s coming…
CES is right around the corner, as little less than a month separates us from the event. And, VentureBeat reports, LG is apparently ready to show off its arsenal, with no less than six new phones being prepped for the official unveil…
Obi Worldphone, the company founded by former Apple CEO John Sculley, has announced that it is releasing a new phone aimed at emerging markets. Called the MV1, the device was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will cost either $139 or $149, depending on the amount of RAM you chose.
As part of its Mobile World Congress announcements this week, Acer today announced the Acer Liquid Jade 2, the latest in the company’s lineup of flagship Liquid Jade branded smartphones.
Like just about every Android device manufacturer this week, Lenovo is showing off its latest at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and today officially unveiled its new lineup of TAB3 tablets.
At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HTC today has unveiled four new mid-range Android devices. Three of the devices carry the company’s mid-range Desire branding, while the fourth is a global version of the One X9, which was previously available only in Asia.
First details about LG’s upcoming G5 smartphone first showed up 2 months ago, and the first sketchy renders followed shortly after, but it wasn’t until just recently that the phone first appeared in the flesh on the Dubai equivalent of Craigslist. Now, after seeing the phone in a dummy shell, its Quick Cover case officially unveiled by LG, and benchmarks revealing its performance, Evan Blass has come out just days before the phone’s announcement to all but confirm everything we’ve seen thus far…
Despite being entirely touch-based for the overwhelming majority, a few successful smartphones have enjoyed styluses as secondary input peripherals, such as Samsung‘s famous Galaxy Note series. LG, not to stay behind, introduced a Stylus version of its G4 flagship last year, whose reception came as mixed due to a non-stellar pen implementation and an overall underwhelming experience.
The South Korean giant is nonetheless looking forward to a come back with the now-official upcoming LG Stylus 2…
When looking at the landscape of Android flagship smartphones, I rarely find it easy to pinpoint a single manufacturer that, in one way or another, has consistently been able to meaningfully innovate one year after the other. More often than not, the OEMs have a go at things that are then removed the following year, or that in some way fail to broadly introduce a proper trend, like for instance the first attempts at fingerprint sensors or stereoscopic cameras…
Samsung has officially announced that they are hosting a Galaxy Unpacked event on Sunday, February 21st at MWC 2016. The widely expected event was actually leaked earlier today, but now we have a time and an official teaser video.
Mobile World Congress is still more than a month away, but that’s not keeping LG from sending out invitations to its upcoming press event in Barcelona. The company’s keynote is scheduled for February 21st, according to the invite, at 14:00 local time. Beyond that, though, there’s not much to learn here. The invite shows what looks to be a jack-in-the-box along with the slogan “Play begins.”…

Samsung has begun development on the firmware for both versions of the upcoming Galaxy S7, according to reports (via SamMobile). Development on both G930FXXU0AOK6 and G935FXXU0AOK6 started this month, perhaps signaling the phone could arrive earlier than usual. Last year, the same development work didn’t start until December, and the phone was announced at the beginning of March, at MWC in Barcelona. If there’s a similar gap between development and release this time around, we could see a phone announced as early as January or early February…
HTC announced its new One M9 flagship yesterday, but the company also took time to tell us about the GRIP fitness device they’re working on with Under Armour and the new Vive virtual reality headset being made in partnership with Valve. Sunday in the United States feels like an odd time for all of these announcements to have happened (meaning they caught many of us off guard), but if you’re one of those that missed the keynote, you’re in luck. HTC has this morning uploaded the full press event video to YouTube for your viewing pleasure:

Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 (and the S6 Edge) and the HTC One M9 were announced yesterday, showcasing the best that these two Android OEMs have to offer this year. Both of these devices were horribly-kept secrets in their own ways, so there weren’t many surprises yesterday—we already knew almost every detail about both phones before they were announced.
But now that they’re here, which one do you think you’ll be getting? Or if you’re not in line for an upgrade right now, which one would be your pick? Let’s take a look at a few of their differences…

As was expected (thanks to an advertisement spotted in the Barcelona Airport), Huawei came out this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain to announce its first entry into the Android Wear race: the Huawei Watch.
A first impression of the device might quickly lead you to believe that this is one of the most—if not the most—attractive Android Wear devices to launch, and based on what Huawei’s shown us, this thing might just be worthy of such a judgment…
Sony this morning announced their latest entry into the tablet market with a super-slim device called the Xperia Z4 Tablet, as well as an update to the mid-range Xperia M smartphone series, the Xperia M4. The former claims to be the world’s slimmest 10-inch tablet, packs a 2K-resolution display, and has the Snapdragon 810 (the chip in many of this year’s flagship smartphones) built inside. The Xperia M4 is a “no compromises” smartphone that packs waterproofing with some decent spec bumps.
During an interview at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona today, Google’s Android chief Sundar Pichai made a few interesting announcements, including confirming the company will launch its own wireless service as an MVNO in the coming months.

Google SVP Sundar Pichai sat down with Bloomberg’s Brad Stone at the Mobile World Congress today in Barcelona, Spain, and as happens often, he had some pretty interesting things to say. The HTC One M9 is almost surely going to be one of the biggest stars of the Mobile World Congress this year, but it has also arguably been one of the most-leaked handsets ever. As HTC’s event approaches, the leaks have seemed to become only more and more prevalent, and that trend is continuing today as a hands-on video of the device has appeared on YouTube…
Samsung had seemingly done an excellent job at keeping its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship under wraps, but now an XDA Developers user has allegedly gotten his hands on at least one variant of the device. The pictures unfortunately are not of the greatest quality as the phone is wrapped in bubble wrap, but they do give us one of the best looks at what could be the device to date.
Following a number of teasers showing off what looks to be a next-gen, curved Galaxy device, Samsung today posted a live stream and countdown for its upcoming Unpacked 2015 event scheduled for March 1st.
The event takes place during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona during early March, a venue Samsung and others use annually to unveil their latest devices.
That curved next-gen Galaxy device the company has been showing off in blurry teaser videos is likely its new flagship Galaxy S6, but we’ll have to wait until March 1st to know for sure.
We’ll be at MWC in Barcelona to bring you live coverage of the event as always, but you can also tune into the live stream here on March 1st to watch the announcements in real-time.

The teases keep rolling in as HTC, Samsung, and others compete for the spotlight this week going into the Mobile World Congress. We’ve already seen several HTC One M9 leaks from @upleaks, including the device’s purported specs and another today that revealed the device’s three color variations. Now the HTC Ireland Twitter account has come out with a video that looks to be teasing the device’s speakers.
Not long ago a system dump of the device revealed the apps that will be packed with HTC’s Sense 7, making it clear that software-wise, the next HTC One isn’t going to be much of a departure from its predecessor. The below tease tells us that we’re six days away from the announcement of the device, but a recent tweet from the Taiwanese company’s UK Twitter account originally revealed that the “new HTC One” will be announced March 1st.
