One day only: OnePlus X will be delivered within 15 minutes across 7 Indian cities tomorrow

If you thought Amazon’s 2-hour delivery was impressive, the company has teamed up with OnePlus and OlaCabs in India to make 2 hours seem like an age to wait. OlaCabs, similar to Uber, lets you order transport via a simple smartphone app and has joined forces with OnePlus to offer 15-minute OnePlus X deliveries in 7 Indian cities.

Between 10AM and 7PM on December 8th, a ‘ONEPLUSX’ category will appear on the OlaCab app and allows customers to order the OnePlus X and have it at their doorsteps within quarter of an hour. It’s a one-day only deal, and will only be available between those times, tomorrow. After that, customers will need to order from Amazon India the usual way. Customers can choose to pay by debit/credit card or cash on delivery.

The service will be available in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. A simple guide on how to order your OnePlus X via the OlaCabs app is below:

  1. Fire up the Ola app on your existing smartphone
  2. Look up the “ONEPLUSX” category icon and click on “Ride Now“
  3. Confirm your selection in the next screen and hit “Ok“
  4. The booking will be confirmed and the driver details will be displayed on the final screen

It’s interesting to see OnePlus making it super-convenient and quick to get devices to customers in India, and perhaps signals a change in focus from the often-frustrating marketing tactics. In the past, having to wait for invites and having to wait an age for the phone to arrive after ordering was the norm. Now, with the OnePlus 2 available globally without invites, and the OnePlus X being sent to customers within 15 minutes, OnePlus is clearly clamping down on getting handsets to people as hassle-free and as quickly as possible. It’s a refreshing change, to say the least.
