Earlier this week news surfaced that AT&T sales of the BlackBerry Priv are worse than expected, and now T-Mobile has stopped selling the Android device on its site. The device is out-of-stock online, but those who are still interested may be able to find them in local carrier stores.
The official T-Mobile Help account tweeted that the Priv is “not currently” being sold online. While the smartphone could just be out-of-stock, the product listing has been completely removed from the site and BlackBerry is no longer listed on the Manufacturer filter list.
A report earlier this week detailed how BlackBerry Priv sales on AT&T are “really struggling” and seeing more returns than expected. The majority of buyers are BlackBerry loyalists who end up not liking Android and returning to a model running an older operating system. It appears that a physical keyboard is not too alluring to phone buyers in this day and age.
This spells trouble for BlackBerry’s hardware business, but more immediately two rumored devices currently in the works. One of the devices will have physical keyboard and a similar form factor to classic BlackBerry devices, while the other is a full touchscreen device. At around $400, these devices are aimed at the mid-range to allure enterprise buyers.
