Earlier this year, we received word from OnePlus that they planned to get Nougat onto the OnePlus 3 and 3T before the end of the year. As we quickly approached the New Year, many became skeptical that this deadline would be met. Now, on the last day of 2016, Carl Pei, Co-founder of OnePlus, has announced that they will begin rolling out a stable build of OxygenOS 4.0 (Nougat) later tonight…
Carl Pei’s official announcement was followed up by posts for the OP 3 and OP 3T on the company’s forums. Each of these posts are identical and both state that the update will come in the form of an over-the-air update. Although only a small percentage will likely receive the update tonight, more users will see it on their devices in the coming days.
Below is the official OxygenOS 4.0 changelog:
- Upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat
- New Notifications Design
- New Settings Menu Design
- Multi-Window View
- Notification Direct Reply
- Custom DPI Support
- Added Status Bar Icon Options
- Improved Shelf Customization

OnePlus has also published the first build of the Nougat open beta for the OnePlus 3T on their forums. This brings the 3T up to date with the 3 which received its first Nougat beta build in November. If you want to try Android 7.0 on your OnePlus 3T before the official update reaches your device, you can manually download and sideload it onto your phone. Once you are running the open beta, your device should receive future OTA beta builds.
