LG’s G6 went official this morning at MWC, and it seems that LG has absolutely nailed its flagship for the first time in a couple of years following the unimpressive LG G5 and LG G4. However, some of the features on the LG G6 will be exclusive to certain regions, so let’s take a closer look…
The G6 has Qi/PMA wireless charging, but only in the US
One of the biggest perks of the new glass build on the LG G6 is the addition of wireless charging, something we haven’t seen as often on flagship devices in the past year or two. Even better, the G6 supports both major wireless charging standards — Qi and PMA.
Unfortunately, that feature is exclusive to US models of the G6. LG says this is because the demand for wireless charging is higher in the US, so it doesn’t make sense to offer it in other areas. Thankfully, though, all LG G6 models will support Quick Charge 3.0.
The HiFi DAC will only be available in Korea and other Asian markets
LG has really focused in on audio quality over the past years with HiFi audio DACs in both the LG V10 and LG V20, as well as offering a DAC module for the LG G5. Just like the V20, the LG G6 offers a 32-bit HiFi Quad DAC, but only in certain markets.
That DAC will be exclusive to overseas markets in Asia, including Korea and a few other unspecified markets…
The G6 has 64GB of storage, but not everywhere
Out of the box most LG G6 units come with 32GB of storage, but in certain markets including Korea, Hong Kong, India, CIS, and some other Asian countries, it will come with 64GB.
