Reduce eye strain with the Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+’s blue light filter & grayscale mode

As you probably know, studies have shown that the blue light from electronics suppresses melatonin production and makes it harder to fall to sleep and causes eye strain over time. Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have a built-in blue light filter and a grayscale mode that cuts out this form of light…

Steps to reducing eye strain with the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+

  1. Blue light filter
  2. Grayscale mode

1. Blue light filter

You can access the blue light filter by first getting to the Galaxy S9/S9+’s settings menu by pulling down the notification shade and tapping on the gear icon. Next, choose the Display option and select Blue light filter.

In this menu, you can customize the opacity and directly turn the filter on. Additionally, you can set up a custom schedule or have the blue light filter automatically turn on/off based on your current location’s sunset/sunrise schedule.

2. Grayscale mode

Another technique that many use to cut out blue light is enabling the phone’s grayscale mode. To do this on the Galaxy S9/S9+, you must first head into the phone’s settings menu by pulling down the notification shade and tapping on the gear icon. From there, open Accessibility, locate Vision, and choose Color adjustment.

In this window, you first need to toggle the feature on, and then you can now choose from a list of different color options. Choose Grayscale, and you should see your device’s display change color.
