Best Google Chrome alternatives

Just like with Google’s search engine, you get to use the Chrome browser for free, but you are providing the company with your data. Thankfully, there are free alternatives available for download that protect your information. Here are the best alternatives to the Google Chrome browser.

Best Google Chrome alternatives

  • Firefox
  • Brave
  • Tor

Firefox

Unlike when you’re looking for an alternative to Google search, there are several popular browser options available for your use. Specifically, I’m talking about Firefox, an open-source piece of software that has a similar number of add-ons and extensions available as Chrome. It’s fast, secure, and easily customizable.

Better yet, Firefox has two different browser options for mobile. You can go for the full-featured version of the browser, or you can download Firefox Focus which automatically blocks ads and trackers.

Brave

The Brave browser is built off of the Chromium web browser, so it looks and acts similar to Chrome. The browser automatically blocks trackers and removed intrusive ads. While the feature is still in beta, the browser has a “Brave Payments” initiative that allows users to donate money to websites they visit to compensate the publisher for the ads that were blocked while browsing.

Tor

The Tor browser is for those who want the most privacy while browsing. While online, your traffic will automatically go through the Tor network, which protects every bit of your data. The Tor browser itself is based off of Mozilla’s Firefox ESR browser with a number of privacy-protecting extensions automatically in place.
