OnePlus 12 seems like it will bring back wireless charging

According to reliable leakers, the OnePlus 12 will apparently revive wireless charging, even though the company’s new foldable still lacks it.

Wireless charging is a feature that OnePlus, despite its “Never Settle” schtick, has always been quite hesitant to include. The brand said for years that it wouldn’t add the feature because it was too slow (missing the point of wireless charging entirely), and then when it did finally arrive in the OnePlus 8 Pro, 9 Pro, and 10 Pro with 50W speeds, it was dropped in the OnePlus 11.

Most recently, OnePlus has come under fire for skipping wireless charging in the $1,699 OnePlus Open foldable.

Often when this removal is brought up, fans of OnePlus are quick to point out that fast charging is more useful, ignoring the fact that the two technologies are in no way mutually exclusive. Now, it seems that OnePlus is also remembering that this is the case.

A spec leak earlier this year first brought some hope that wireless charging would return, and now two reliable sources are claiming the same. Digital Chat Station on Weibo as well as Max Jambor both say that the OnePlus 12 will be equipped with 50W wireless charging, the same speed that was found on past OnePlus flagships. Notably, too, OnePlus told members of the press earlier this year that it was “considering” adding wireless to future releases, but didn’t specify when.

With the OnePlus 12 expected to launch in December, it also becomes a good candidate to be one of the first Qi2-equipped Android devices.
