AI is everywhere now, and becoming an especially important part of our smartphones. Now a new report is detailing how Samsung is set to put a bigger focus on generative AI for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.
SamMobile reports that Samsung will debut more generative AI features on Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in an effort to make them the “smartest AI phones ever.”
Specific features aren’t mentioned, unfortunately, aside from being described as “lifted from ChatGPT and Bard” including generative AI text generation. Also mentioned as a possibility is image generation from AI which Samsung discussed when talking about its new Exynos 2400 chip which should make its way into some Galaxy S24 variants. In theory, Bixby and other Samsung apps could also see benefits, but it’s really not known exactly what the company has planned at this point.
It’s also unclear if this will be on-device AI features or if things will be offloaded to the cloud. Google Pixel 8 series leans heavily on AI features, but many of the tasks are offloaded to Google’s servers, while more on-device AI will be coming in the future.
We do know, though, that Google Assistant with Bard will support the Galaxy S24 series. As we reported earlier this month, the Galaxy S24 would be supported alongside Tensor-powered Pixel phones as the only supported devices at launch for the AI-enhanced voice assistant.
