The OnePlus Pad was one of the best Android tablets in recent memory and, apparently, it’s getting a sequel this year in the “OnePlus Pad 2.”
Launched early last year, the OnePlus Pad brought a big, fast display with a flagship-tier processor and plenty of memory, all for a solid price point. Currently, it’s probably still the best value in an Android tablet, especially as it’s often found for under $400 at this point.
Now, frequent OnePlus tipster Max Jambor says that a sequel is coming.
Max says that the “OnePlus Pad 2” will be launched sometime later this year, specifying in the second half of the year.
The original OnePlus Pad launched in February 2023, so it seems the company is looking at a 1.5 year release cycle. For a tablet, that makes a whole lot of sense. What may change on the sequel, though, remains to be seen. Some points that could be addressed may include a higher resolution display, updated chipset, or, most importantly, the addition of actual biometrics. The original tablet had no secure means of biometric unlock, which really hurt the overall experience. Hopefully, OnePlus will also bring Open Canvas in this sequel as promised.
