According to a reliable source, Samsung has managed to make the display crease on its Galaxy Z Fold 6 less noticeable.
Since the start of foldable smartphones, the display crease has been a key roadblock to “perfecting” the technology. As it stands today, some handle this problem better than others. OnePlus and Oppo, for example, have managed to build foldables with barely-noticeable display creases as shown by the OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 Flip.
But, despite being one of the first in the foldable game, Samsung still hasn’t made any big strides in this area.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a better display crease than 2019’s Galaxy Fold did, but not by any drastic margin. It’s still very noticeable (as pictured above), and one of the biggest downsides of the foldable overall. But, apparently, the Fold 6 will make improvements.
Reliable Samsung tipster Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will improve the display crease. It still won’t be “complete eliminated,” but it will be “reduced” from the existing models.
How? The post doesn’t mention. However, a recent report about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 claimed that the clamshell foldable will address its display crease by using a thicker form of ultra-thin glass. It stands to reason that similar changes may be made on Fold 6.
Whatever the case, we don’t have long to wait until we find out. Samsung is expected to unveil its new foldables, and a whole lot of other products, in July.
