Meta has announced a new update for its Ray-Ban smart glasses which, among other things, includes the ability to directly share content to Instagram Stories without taking out your phone.
Announced in a blog post, Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are adding a few new features.
Firstly, new “Hey Meta” voice commands will allow users to quick share images taken with the glasses to their Instagram accounts. Just saying “Hey Meta, share my last photo to Instagram” will directly share the last photo you’ve taken to your Instagram Stories without taking out your phone.
After you snap a photo, you can simply say, “Hey Meta, share my last photo to Instagram.” Or you can say, “Hey Meta, post a photo to Instagram” to take a new photo on the fly and share the moment with your friends and followers.
Beyond that, the glasses can also now integrate with Amazon Music. Saying “Hey Meta, play Amazon Music” will automatically start playing a recommended playlist. While you could stream Amazon Music through the open-ear speakers on the glasses before, this new update makes it possible without first pulling out your phone.
Similarly, Meta Ray-Bans are adding support for Calm, and there’s a free three-month subscription offer coming to the Meta View app.
Meta says these updates are rolling out “gradually.”
Meanwhile, the new Meta Ray-Ban styles are now shipping to customers. This includes the new “Skyler” design as well as added color options. Specifically, the following new options are now available.
- Skyler in Shiny Chalky Gray with Gradient Cinnamon Pink Lenses
- Skyler in Shiny Black with Transitions® Cerulean Blue Lenses
- Headliner Low Bridge Fit in Shiny Black with Polar G15 Lenses
