OnePlus will launch its Android 15 update next week with focus on AI and animations

As the floodgates for Android 15 are opening, OnePlus and Oppo are preparing to show off their Android 15 updates to OxygenOS and ColorOS.

In an announcement today, OnePlus has confirmed plans to show off its Android 15 update, OxygenOS 15, on October 24. The update is described as the “fastest and most user-friendly update” to OxygenOS to date.

The update will be shown off in full on October 24 during a live stream that starts at 11:30am ET.

OnePlus says the update will “reconstruct animations” for “unprecedented smooth animation effects,” and will also introduce AI features that are “designed to maximize productivity and creativity.”

OnePlus describes the update as follows:

Burdenless experiences have always been the core philosophy guiding OnePlus’ product development. With OxygenOS 15, OnePlus built and integrated industry-leading software algorithms to creatively reconstruct animations in the Android platform – this led to unprecedented smooth animation effects. Additionally, Oxygen OS 15 delivers a unique visual style that highlights the company’s individuality. Stemming from community feedback, OnePlus also included features that empower multi-tasking scenarios and personality expression.

OxygenOS 15 also introduces OnePlus’ latest AI features. These features are strategically designed to maximize productivity and creativity, making life easier for each user. The new software will be a perfect combination of speed, performance, and intelligence.

Previously, it was reported that OxygenOS 15 will make some tweaks that feel more like iOS. Oppo also today unveiled a first look at ColorOS 15 which has updated animations and lots of AI. ColorOS and OxygenOS are effectively the same software following a merger a few years ago, so ColorOS 15 reveals what to expect from OnePlus’ update.

There’s no word just yet on what devices will get the update, or when the actual rollout will begin, but OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open are very likely first in line, with others to follow not long after. Usually, major software updates like these are released in Open Beta first, with a full update released within a month or two.

OnePlus is also due to announce the OnePlus 13 rather soon.
