Samsung has reportedly started working on a “Slim” version of its upcoming Galaxy S25 flagship ahead of Apple’s plans for a thinner iPhone 17.
As our sister site 9to5Mac has been reporting for the past several months, Apple is thought to be working on a new addition to the iPhone 17 lineup next year, with an ultra-thin “Slim” model. The device would reportedly have a 6.55-inch display, have just a single camera, and be made out of aluminum rather than titanium.
There’s no word just yet on exactly how thin the “Slim” will be, but it seems Samsung wants to throw its hat in the ring.
A report from ETNews reveals that Samsung is planning to launch a Galaxy S25 “Slim” after the initial Galaxy S25 series launches next year. The device would launch in “small quantities” and could end up launching in April, @Jukanlosreve says. How this “Slim” device would differ from the rest of the series, beyond being thinner, is currently unclear.
Apparently, if this “Slim” model is received well by customers, Samsung would make changes to incorporate the new form factor into the Galaxy S26 lineup.
On Apple’s side, the “Slim” is supposedly replacing the iPhone 17 Plus, but it’s not clear where this device would slot in for Samsung. The Galaxy S24+ was Samsung’s fastest-growing device in the S24 lineup this year by a considerable margin.
