Google Pixel is ‘official smartphone’ of Australian Open with real-life ‘Pixel Studio’

Following basketball and soccer (football) around the world, Google Pixel is now the “official smartphone of the Australian Open.”

Besides the branding, Google is using this tennis partnership to highlight four features on Pixel:

  • Gemini: “Whether you type or speak, Gemini can provide instant answers to your questions, from match schedules to nearby lunch spots. You can even have natural conversations about the game with Gemini Live like a friend.”
  • Circle to Search: “Saw something you like but can’t describe it? Just snap a photo, circle the image or text and let Circle to Search find the answers effortlessly.”
  • Magic Eraser: “Easily remove distractions, like photobombers or unwanted objects in the background, with Magic Eraser.”
  • Magic Editor: “Handy AI editing tools to perfect your Australian Open photos.”

Meanwhile, a real-life “Google Pixel Studio” has been built to “Experience Google Pixel 9 Pro first-hand.”

Guided by our coaches, capture surreal action shots with Pixel’s most advanced camera yet. Defy gravity with Pixel 9 Pro’s magical AI editing features like Magic Editor to transform your photos into something extraordinary and share-worthy.

For those attending the tournament, it’s located at the Rod Laver Arena, 200 Batman Ave, Melbourne VIC 3004, Australia (“We are located in the Village, near the Eastern Courts of the precinct”). It’s open Sunday, January 12 to Sunday, January 26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m (AEDT). The Australian Google Store will also be running “sales and enhanced trade-ins” during that period.

The first of the four Grand Slam tournaments will get underway on January 11 (and run until January 26).

This Australian Open partnership joins past Google Pixel relationships with the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), UEFA European Championships (Euros), and Frauen-Bundesliga, as well as Liverpool and Arsenal.
