Meta ‘Blayzer’ and ‘Scriber’ Ray-Bans are designed for prescription lenses with slimmer design, $499 [Gallery]

Meta has today announced its new “Blayzer” and “Scriber” Ray-Ban styles that are designed for prescription lenses with a new slim design and more.

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are generally recognized as one of the best options due to their balance of style, features, and comfort, but they’re undeniably thicker than traditional glasses and, often, not as comfortable for all-day wear. But with many already wearing glasses all day for the sake of corrective lenses, Meta is today launching new styles that focus specifically on those pain points.

New “Blayzer” and “Scriber” Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are a part of the new “Optic Styles” lineup. “Blayzer” has a rectangular design with smaller and larger sizes, with a look reminiscent of the “Wayfarer” design. Meanwhile, “Scriber” has a rounded look.

Both pairs are designed with a slimmer and lighter body with over-extension hinges, adjustable temple tips, and interchangeable nose pads. You can pick your prescription at checkout alongside a choice of lens type — standard, thin, or extra-thin — with anti-reflective treatments also available.

Outside of the hardware changes, you’re getting the same basic experience with a built-in camera (and privacy LED), open-ear headphones, and AI features too. Battery life is “over 8 hours.”

The new glasses get a darker brown charging case, too, and start at $499. Meta says “almost all” prescription lenses are available, and you can also get prescription lenses on older styles such as “Wayfarer,” “Skyler,” and more.

Pre-orders for “Blayzer” and “Scriber” are open now, with deliveries in April.
