Samsung reportedly prepares Galaxy Book laptops running Android with One UI 9 skin

As Google’s “Aluminium” OS slowly makes it way to launch, a new report reveals that Samsung is preparing new Galaxy Book laptops running Android, but with Samsung’s design on top.

SamMobile reports that Samsung is building out future Galaxy Book laptops running Android 17 with One UI 9.0 on top. At least three Galaxy Book models would be available, including low-end, mid-range, and flagship-tier options, apparently with a “very sleek” design.

On the software side, the use of “Aluminium” OS isn’t set in stone, but it’s said to be “likely.” Samsung would have Galaxy AI features in place as well, with an “improved” version of DeX also in the works.

It felt somewhat inevitable that Samsung would be one of the first brands jumping on board with Google’s new Android laptop push, but the biggest detail from this report is that it sounds like Google will be allowing for “skins” on top of this new experience. That’s not necessarily a surprise, but it was something we hadn’t heard prior to this report.

As it stands today, Samsung offers Windows-powered laptops in its Galaxy Book 6 series, while offering just a single Galaxy Chromebook that sells for $775.
