Google sent an email to customers today thanking Gemini for Home early access testers for their feedback, and laying the groundwork for the upcoming Google Home Speaker.
The email comes from Anish Kattukaran, the Chief Product Officer for Google Home & Nest:
I’m writing to you from my living room, surrounded by the same speakers, displays, thermostats and cameras in many of your homes. With over 100 of my own smart home devices connected around me and my family, I am deeply aware of the incredible potential and occasional inconveniences of smart home life.
Since the Gemini for Home early access started last October, Google says “over 3.5 million of you opted in to early access to test it.” He said the preview is a “direct line to our engineering team to tell us exactly what was working, where there was friction, and what you needed next.”
Please keep the feedback coming-the team and I read all of it (even if we can’t respond to every note personally).
User feedback has resulted in over 2,500 bug fixes and an expansion to 20 countries across 10 languages. There have been updates every other week and over 50 major feature updates, with Continued Conversation and upgraded media controls cited as examples.
Google also highlights updates to the Home app, enhanced camera experiences, and expanded automation.
The email ends with a Google Home Speaker tease: “for those of you who have been patiently waiting for a certain speaker… keep a very close eye on your inbox next week.” With spring ending on June 21, the company would just about meet its deadline.
