Samsung released its earnings guidance for Q1 2015 earlier this evening, and now HTC has done the same. Reuters reports that HTC expects a net profit of $11.6 million for the first quarter of 2015 off of revenue of $1.3 billion. While these numbers are down slightly when compared to Q4 of 2014, they are up significantly from the year ago quarter.
During the first quarter of 2014, HTC reported a net loss of $60 million on $1.06 billion in revenue. HTC can attribute the growth to a solid flagship offering during 2014 apnd during the first quarter of 2015. Now, however, the company must work on continuing to grow sales of its latest flagship, the One M9.
The One M9 was met with mixed reviews from critics when unveiled last month. Many reviewers said the device was too similar to its predecessor to standout in the always competitive smartphone industry. With those mixed reviews, HTC has a challenging task ahead.
HTC is expected to post its full Q1 2015 earnings report in May.
