Latest 4th-gen Moto G leak reveals two variants and an assortment of specs

Lenovo is expected to release the 4th-generation Moto G at an upcoming event on May 17. While the appearance of the device has been widely leaked, not much is known about the specs of the device. According to a leak today, we know a bit more about what will likely be Lenovo’s first Moto devices.

Judging from past leaks and corroborated by today’s, the device will come in two varmints. The lower-end model might have 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage and a 13MP camera with laser autofocus. Meanwhile, the higher-end G4 Plus could feature 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 16MP camera. Codenamed Athene, both devices will be “Made in India”, but likely just assembled there.

As shown in a render and leaked photos, one model — most likely the G4 Plus — will have a square front-facing fingerprint sensor. For a mid-range device, this Moto G looks quite premium with a metal back and features a large display. The device still uses micro-USB to charge and retains the Ambient Display feature.

At the beginning of the year, the WSJ reported that Lenovo would announce a Moto device in July. With a lack of rumors about the flagship Moto X, it’s likely that Lenovo will have another event in a few months time to announce the rest of the Moto lineup.
