According to a new report, Samsung is working to build on its Galaxy Buds with the next release bringing a redesign as well as some AI features.
Samsung has been using the “beans” design for its Galaxy Buds lineup since 2020. This first appeared on the Galaxy Buds Live which, for lack of a better comparison, literally look like beans. Since then, every new Galaxy Buds release except for the “Fan Edition” has had a design inspired by that look.
Apparently, the Galaxy Buds 3 series will move to a new design.
Cho Sun reports that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds release, the Galaxy Buds 3, will feature the first big redesign for the series in years.
There’s no word on exactly how the design will change, but apparently a big part of the focus is on improving call quality as well as active noise cancellation. One way that some earbuds, such as AirPods or Nothing Ear, improve on call quality is using a “stem” that moves the microphones closer to your mouth. However, it’s unclear if Samsung plans to do that.
Also in store for this new generation are new AI features.
Big shock, right?
The specific AI features in store would be for translation, as was also a big focus of the Galaxy AI suite on smartphones. Interestingly, though, adding AI will apparently increase the size of the earbuds to make room for additional battery capacity, the report claims.
Samsung is, according to Evan Blass, working on both Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Both earbuds are likely to debut at or around Samsung’s rumored July 10 launch event.
