Google Home AI Descriptions will now skip ‘generic’ motion-only events, Gemini voice assistant gets fixes

The latest edition of the Google Home releases notes today are not tied to a specific version of the app, and focus on Gemini for Home improvements.

The Google Home app updates start with how camera AI Descriptions will now “prioritize key events like People, Animals, Packages, Vehicle, and more.” Going forward, Gemini for Home “will skip generating AI descriptions for generic motion-only events” to not clutter your timeline. This is based on user feedback since launch.

Similarly, Google has reduced the “average word count for the Home Brief, making it quicker to scan and read, without losing important details.”

On the Gemini for Home Voice Assistant front, there are improvements in three categories. This experience is still in Early Access and not yet widely available.

Media:

  • Reduced occurrences where Gemini for Home incorrectly responded with “I couldn’t find any recent news” to certain queries.
  • Gemini will now prompt users to link their account when required for the playback of certain types of media.
  • Fixed an issue where YouTube Music wasn’t respected as the default podcast provider.

Answers:

  • Improved response reliability when asking follow-up questions.
  • Fixed an issue where the temperature unit on smart displays didn’t match the set preferences.

Gemini Live:

  • Fixed an issue where the command “Hey Google, start Gemini Live” failed to initiate a conversation.

Dated today (November 24, 2025), these are presumably server-side updates.
