The ability to take an ECG through Pixel Watch is a handy tool for keeping an eye on your health, and that app is now getting a slight revamp with a new icon and, well, the ability to actually work again.
Rolling out widely now, Google has made a few key changes to the ECG app on Pixel Watch, starting with a new icon. The app has introduced a new red-themed icon that stands out a bit more in a sea of blue health apps on the smartwatch, and also feels a bit more aligned with Google’s new design language as seen on new Workspace icons and elsewhere.
The update also ditches the “Fitbit” branding that was used in the app drawer label. This is probably as a result of the Google Health rebrand, with other apps that were previously Fitbit-branded (such as Exercise) now also removing the Fitbit moniker. There is no longer any Fitbit branding on the software side of Pixel Watch, with everything having transitioned over to Google Health.
Also notable is that, with this update, the ECG app actually works again. We previously reported that, for some users, the app has been broken for a few weeks, but this update seems to fix any remaining issues.
