OnePlus celebrates 1-year anniversary w/ invitation-free sales, a $15 battery pack … and being banned in India

OnePlus is celebrating it’s first anniversary by making its OnePlus One ‘flagship killer’ smartphone available without the invitation you’ve so far needed to order one. Both the white 16GB and black 64GB models are available.

The company is also offering 11% of all accessories, a prize draw to win a 64GB model and a competition to name its forthcoming custom ROM in which you can win both a phone and a trip to Hong Kong to meet the team.

Yesterday’s ‘Go further’ teaser, however, turned out to be rather unexciting …

The “10,000 reasons to be excited” referred to the 10,000mAh external battery-pack the company has announced. While hardly seeming worthy of a teaser campaign, it is at least a good price – just $15 for something which, visually anyway, looks more expensive. You can’t get 11% off that, though: it is “coming soon.”

OnePlus did, however, get a rather unwelcome birthday present: it has been banned from selling, marketing or importing the phone into India, reports Unleash the Phones (via TNW).

The Delhi High Court order comes after Indian phone brand Micromax, which is launching a new brand of Cyanogen-powered phones under a new ‘YU’ brand tomorrow, complained to the Delhi High Court that OnePlus infringed on their India-exclusivity agreement with Cyanogen.

The ban is unrelated to the one recently imposed on Xiaomi.
