Google announces enhanced snooze functionality for Inbox by Gmail

Google today announced a useful new feature that is now available in its Inbox email app. Starting today, when users “snooze” an email that has dates and times, they will be presented with a one-tap option to snooze to a specific time further in the future. For instance, you can snooze an event confirmation email until the day of the event. Another possible instance is snoozing a shipment confirmation email until the day of the package’s arrival.

From the announcement blog post:

“Starting today, Snooze in Inbox is getting a bit more convenient—when you snooze an email that has dates and times (like event confirmations or shipping notifications), you’ll get a one-tap option to snooze to exactly the right time, like the day of your concert or the morning your package will arrive.”

Inbox by Gmail has supported Snooze since earlier this year, but the process was more manual than today’s new feature. There are six types of emails for which these options will appear:

  • Package tracking updates
  • Restaurant and event reservations
  • Calendar invites
  • Flight confirmations
  • Hotel reservations
  • Rental car reservations

To take advantage of the enhanced snooze functionality, be sure you have the latest version of Inbox from the Play Store
