Sony Xperia X Compact, XZ to be available September 25th, October 2nd, respectively

We first got a look at Sony’s new Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ back at IFA 2016, but when they were announced, we didn’t know what pricing would be or when the phones would launch in the US. Now, we know that they’re both going to be just as expensive as other phones that have hit the Xperia lineup in recent years, and that they’re coming to the US on September 25th and October 2nd, respectively…

Per the Sony press release:

Sony Mobile Communications (“Sony Mobile”) is pleased to announce that Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ will be available unlocked in the United States starting September 25, 2016 for the Xperia X Compact and October 2, 2016 for Xperia XZ. Both smartphones can be purchased on Amazon, Best Buy and other participating retailers for a suggested retail price of $499.99 and $699.99, respectively, and will support GSM networks.

So yeah, the Xperia X Compact is going to run you $500, and the Xperia XZ will cost $700. You’ll be able to get them starting on September 25th and October 2nd from your typical online outlets such as Amazon and Best Buy.

The Xperia XZ has Gorilla Glass 4.0 atop a 1080p display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 3GB of RAM, support for LTE Cat 9, 2.5D curved glass, and expandable 32GB of storage. As mentioned, the man camera is 23MP with“triple image sensing technology,” while the front is a 13MP camera with Sony Exmor R ISO6400.

The Xperia X Compact has many the same specs as its new XZ flagship sibling. It has the same 23MP camera with triple image sensing tech from the XZ, but goes without the 4K video recording capabilities. It also unfortunately has a Snapdragon 650 rather than an 820, and of course has the smaller 4.6-inch display size at 720p.
