Barnes & Noble has announced that its next Nook ebook reader will be a co-branded Galaxy Tab 4.
The co-branded devices will combine popular Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 hardware with customized NOOK software to give customers powerful, full-featured tablets that are designed for reading …
The lengthily-named Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK will be the same specs as the 7-inch Tab 4 but will be loaded with Nook software in place of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. The company says that the e-ink Nook Glowlight will continue to be sold.
The Galaxy Tab 4 has a 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM and a 1280×800 display.
Barnes & Noble has been rather indecisive about its tablet plans in the past, announcing a year ago that it was moving out of hardware in order to focus on content, and then changing its mind two months later. It had earlier refused to allow Google Play to be installed on its tablets and then changed its mind about that too.
