More details leak on HTC Volantis Nexus tablet, Boomsound and all-aluminum unibody design

Last month, a report emerged claiming that HTC was working on a new Nexus tablet dubbed the Volantis. At the time, the device was rumored to have an 8.9-inch display and an all aluminum design. Now, the notorious leaker @evleaks has posted some confirmation of the specifications for the Volantis.

Evleaks corroborates the earlier report and claims that the Volantis will be powered by a 64-bit Tegra K1 chip. HTC is supposedly testing the tablet with the Snapdragon 810 processor, although that could change before launch. The report also says the device will have 64GB of internal storage and that HTC is testing the tablet with a 5MP camera, but notes that it is possible (if not likely) for the company to switch to an 8MP sensor before launch.

The Volantis will also reportedly feature HTC’s signature front-facing Boomsound speakers. One difference between what evleaks claims and what the earlier report claimed is in terms of the screen resolution. This report claims that the device will ship with a 2560×1600 resolution display, while the earlier report stated that it would have a 2048×1440 screen.

Finally, evleaks also corroborates the fact that the Volantis will have an all-aluminum, unibody silver design. The leaker also posted a macro shot of the tablet, which shows the aluminum body and a portion of the camera.

The Volantis is currently expected to launch in Q4 of this year, possibility carrying the Nexus 9 name.
