When Sony announced its new flagship smartphone back in April, the Xperia Z4, there wasn’t a solid launch date other than this summer for the Japan market. Now, it appears Sony’s team in China has announced a May 26 launch date, meaning we could see the device sooner rather than later outside of Japan.

Xperia Blog noticed that the ad on the official Weibo account for Sony Xperia in China showing what appears to be an Xperia Z4 alongside a May, 26 launch date.

The Xperia Z4 has a physical design not unlike the previous generation apart from some new color options, but it does get some internal upgrades including a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2GHz., a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 5.1-megapixel shooter on the front, and a 2930mAh battery.

It’s still unclear when the device will make it to the US, UK, and other markets, but we’ll keep you posted as more official details roll in.
