HTC 10 vs. Galaxy S7 vs. LG G5 specs compared — which one is your pick? [Poll]

htc-10-galaxy-s7-lg-g5

After months of leaks, HTC finally announced its latest flagship smartphone this morning, and it’s pretty much exactly what we expected. It’s an all-metal, solid unibody phone with specs that look to match today’s best smartphones. What’s more, it could have the best audio and camera experience available of any phone on the market right now. But, how does it compare to Samsung and LG’s best phones? Let’s find out…

LG G5 QuickCover packaging confirms existence of a likely lesser-specced ‘G5 SE’

LG_G5_SE_QuickCover_case_leak_041116_1

As we told you last week, LG recently registered a trademark for “G5 SE,” a decidedly coincidental — or perhaps not-so-coincidental — filing considering the recently-launched iPhone SE. Now, MobileFun has gotten its hands on a shipment of QuickCover cases for the LG G5, which are apparently compatible with the unannounced LG G5 SE as well.

If the cases are compatible with both the SE version and the standard G5, that would throw out the theory that LG is simply planning to call this year’s smaller G5 variant the “SE” version, and would mean that perhaps LG is less guilty of copying the Cupertino company than we thought…

Huawei P9 vs. Huawei P9 Plus specs compared — which would you pick? [Poll]

unspecified-2

Huawei today announced two new flagship smartphones for several countries outside the US, namely the P9 and P9 Plus. The two phones, while obviously pulling a lot design-wise from Huawei’s previous Nexus 6P, are definitely attractive offerings from the up-and-coming Chinese manufacturer. And with it comes a definitely flagship-level spec sheet including 64-bit Kirin processors, a powerful set of cameras (including a Leica dual-camera set up), and a respectable price point.

Read on for the complete rundown on the phones’ specifications, and don’t forget to let us know which of the two phones you would prefer in the poll below…

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Galaxy S7 edge vs. LG G5 specs compared – which is your pick? [Poll]

s7 vs g5

It goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S7 (and the S7 edge) and the LG G5 were the two big announcements today at Mobile World Congress 2016 press day, showcasing the best that these two Android OEMs have to offer. Both of these devices were horribly-kept secrets in their own ways, but now that they’re here, which one are you planning to get?

Let us know which one is your pick in the poll below, but first let’s take a look at a few of their differences…

Evan Blass seemingly confirms previous LG G5 leaks with new image

lg g5

First details about LG’s upcoming G5 smartphone first showed up 2 months ago, and the first sketchy renders followed shortly after, but it wasn’t until just recently that the phone first appeared in the flesh on the Dubai equivalent of Craigslist. Now, after seeing the phone in a dummy shell, its Quick Cover case officially unveiled by LG, and benchmarks revealing its performance, Evan Blass has come out just days before the phone’s announcement to all but confirm everything we’ve seen thus far…

Low-end ZenFone 3 possibly spotted on GFXBench, ZenFone Zoom now up for pre-order

ASUS Zenfone 2 Review! - YouTube 2015-06-19 12-51-56

If you’re looking for the specs of the highest-end (and likely most popular) ASUS ZenFone 3, I don’t have anything for you. But a couple new benchmarks appeared on GFXBench recently, and they might be showcasing some specs for two of the upcoming phone’s lower-end variants. The model numbers are ASUS Z010DD and ASUS Z012D, and they seem to be closer to the budget realm rather than being this year’s refresh of the 4GB RAM beast that we saw last year with the ZenFone 2…

This Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge concept is pretty, but it doesn’t make much sense [Gallery]

samsung galaxy s7

Case manufacturers are already making cases for the Galaxy S7 (and its design doesn’t look much different than the Galaxy S6), but that’s not stopping Curved from posting the Galaxy S7 of its dreams. Curved’s designs are always pretty, but as is the case with this one, they’re not always the most logical. As you can see, this design puts the USB Type-C port on the top of the device, a microSD slot on the bottom, and another edged screen along the bottom of its face…

Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 Pro hits the FCC as the Chinese phone maker continues eyeing the US

Redmi2Pro_1

Xiaomi has reiterated what feels like a half dozen times that the United States is in its long-term view, so that shouldn’t come as much surprise to those who have payed close attention to the words of VP of International Hugo Barra, and more recently, reports from The Wall Street Journal. But interestingly, we now have tangible evidence that the company might be doing just a bit more than just “thinking” about coming to the US. If new documents (via Lilliputing) are to be believed, the company is already seeking FCC approval to bring one of its phones, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro, to the United States…

Specifications compared: LG V10 vs. LG G4

g4-vs-v10-lead

Last night, LG sent out a press release detailing its next flagship smartphone and teased its 2nd-generation Urbane watch. Today, at an event in New York, LG gave a more detailed first look to a select group of press folk. In so many ways, I can’t help but feel the LG V10 is the phone the LG G4 could have been. With so many flagship phones being equipped with fingerprint sensors and durable metal frames, the G4 has been a little out of place.

Now that the V10 has been outed, we can take a look at how its spec sheet compares to its little brother…

LG’s upcoming ‘V10’ handset has a 5.7-inch screen, an auxiliary ‘ticker display,’ Snapdragon 808

We told you yesterday about an unknown LG “V” handset, and now Evan Blass of evleaks has confirmed that this device is indeed the LG V10 handset that he shared many details about just a few days ago. Evan said that the device has an “auxiliary ticker display” not unlike that of the ye olde Samsung Continuum, and also went on to share some the specs of the yet-to-be-announced phone…

Here are the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium spec sheets

Sony this morning announced three new phones under its Xperia brand: the Xperia Z(zed?)5, a smaller Xperia Z5 Compact, and a higher-end Xperia Z5 Premium. It can be a bit confusing trying to differentiate between the three, so we’ve put together full specification lists for them. Behind all of Sony’s marketing mumbo-jumbo, this is what you can find inside these three devices…

Shatterproof Motorola ‘Bounce’ smartphone leaks, purportedly coming in December

The Moto X Style and Moto X Play only just recently launched last month, but it doesn’t look like Motorola is anywhere close to done for the year. Besides the fact that a slew of Moto 360 announcements are expected for this wek at IFA Berlin, it appears that the Lenovo-owned company is also preparing another smartphone for sometime later this year. It’s purportedly called the Motorola “Bounce,” and it sports a shatterproof screen, and specs very similar to that of the recent Moto X line.

CNvGrrpVEAAg0j7As you can see above, the phone definitely looks a lot like the Moto X Play. In terms of its specs, the phone is also not far off from what the company is already offering. According to Upleaks, the phone packs a 5.43″ QHD display, the Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor, storage options at 32 and 64 GB, 3 GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 3760mAh battery. Also, the phone is purportedly shatterproof, perhaps why it’s called “Bounce”?

While more details are sure to come, we’re not quite sure at this point to which regions the phone will be coming. That said, if Upleaks is correct — which he/she very often is — the phone will be launching sometime in December of this year. We’ll keep you updated as more details make their way out.

OnePlus defends its marketing strategy, says it just wants to build community with fans

Site default logo image

header_JUN28_Blog

Following the announcement that the OnePlus 2 would have a USB Type-C port, Mobile Syrup wrote an open letter on Monday to OnePlus calling for sanity. Most who have watched OnePlus evolve as a company agreed wholeheartedly with this letter. From teasing a “game changer” that ended up being a miniature drone barely made available, to teasing the end of the OnePlus One invite system several months after the phone finally hit the market, the company has been known to be really loud (and many times obnoxious) about nothing. But OnePlus says that there’s a reason for all of this…

Moto G (2015) seemingly leaks from multiple sources, isn’t very exciting

21 - 1

The 3rd generation Moto G (2015) is likely to be just around the corner, along with the much-rumored 3rd generation Moto X (2015). And while we got what is probably a nice peek at the upcoming Moto X thanks to Upleaks last weekend, this weekend a couple of other sources are sharing some information about the lower-end budget phone from the Lenovo-owned company. Sadly, at least based on this information, the Moto G (2015) seems to be a bit of a snooze fest…

Huawei’s $250 P8 Lite comes to the US, sports a 5-inch display, Snapdragon 615

As expected, the Huawei P8 Lite has now landed in the United States. The phone isn’t exactly the first of its kind—the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 and the ZenFone 2 fall into the same category—but it’s a notable addition to the available mid-range offerings in the US. It’s a stripped down version of the company’s P8, as you might expect…

Sony announces its Xperia Z4 flagship w/ Snapdragon 810 SoC, very familiar design

z4_01

The Xperia Z4 smartphone isn’t exactly a secret, but now Sony has come out to officially announce the device in Japan. It’s basically the smartphone version of the Xperia Z4 tablet that was announced in March, and like that device, it doesn’t seem to be much of a visual overhaul compared to its predecessor. It does pack some pretty hefty upgrades on the inside, though, including an upgraded SoC and front-facing camera…
