Moto 360 disappears from Motorola’s US website as one-year on sale nears

Motorola’s Android Wear-powered Moto 360 has disappeared from its U.S. website just as we’re expecting the company to unveil the 2nd-generation model next week at IFA Berlin. The change was first reported by Droid-Life.

When we first went to check on this, the landing page where customers can learn more about the Moto 360 was still live, and clicking “Build yours” to go to the Moto Maker page redirected to the support page for the smartwatch. Now the Moto 360 has disappeared completely from the Motorola U.S. submenu for wearables — only cases and bands are still available for the watch. The Moto 360 is still available for purchase on at least a few international Motorola sites, including the one for Brazil.

Speaking of Brazil, we recently posted details of two devices going through the country’s telecommunications agency Anatel with the product name’s “360S” and “360L,” presumably signifying two different sized variants of the same watch. Since then we’ve continued to see more rumors and leaks emerge that corroborate the existence of two new Moto 360’s, notably pictures taken by a Google+ user of what was purportedly a man in Chicago wearing the new watch, and some up-close pictures of the raw case without internals.

It’s totally possible that this was a mistake and that the watch will reappear on the website any moment now. Huawei just this morning had its yet-to-be-released Huawei Watch show up on Amazon only to have it pulled shortly thereafter and issue a statement that it was “incorrect information” and that they have no more new details to announce. The original Moto 360 was released on September 5th of last year, however, so the device is coming up really close to a year on sale. It’s still available on Amazon from Motorola at the time of this writing.
