Google Play Newsstand get sports information in latest update

Google Play Newsstand is definitely my least used Google Play app. That’s not saying much, though, because Google Play Music is really the only one that I use. Play Books, Play Games, and Play Movies might as well not exist in my eyes. That said, if you do use Newsstand, you might be interested in today’s new update. Within, you’ll find new support for sports scores for your favorite NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB teams…

Alongside the Sports section (that you can see above, with a featured Rangers v. Mariners game in tow), you can now tap on the search icon in the top right to search for your favorite teams. Tapping on one of them under “Topics” will show you any recent game scores as well as a list of articles for you to read.

Here’s the full change log:

WHAT’S NEW

– Sports Scores: Get scores and articles about your favorite NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB teams (more sports and leagues to come). Search and subscribe to your favorite team to get started.
– Bug fixes and performance improvements
Chances are, your Newsstand app has already updated in the background at this point. If it hasn’t, head over to the Play Store and check for updates. Alternatively, you can head over to APKMirror and grab the latest version — numbered 3.4.4 —  to install manually.
