Android Basics: How to turn on 4K video capture on the Google Pixel

Google is touting that their new Pixel phones have a better camera than any other smartphone currently on the market. With its 12.3 MP sensor, you’re capable of taking breathtaking 4K videos, but only if you have the settings actually turned on…

We have previously posted about the 4K footage that the Pixel is capable of shooting and what comes out of the camera has been stunning. With the built-in EIS, video not only looks great but is also hardly shaky if you’re recording while moving around.

Follow the instructions below to turn on 4K video capture:

  1. Launch the camera application
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top left corner
  3. Select Settings
  4. Find the Video section and tap on Back camera video resolution
  5. Select UHD 4k and now you will be shooting 4K video
