Android Basics: How to start a Facebook Messenger Group Video Chat

Facebook Messenger

Facebook messenger’s newest feature is called Group Video Chat. With it, you can now start a video conference with up to 50 of your closest friends. As fun as it would be to try to communicate with 50 people over video, though, only six of the people in the call will be able to display their video feed…

How to start a Group Video Chat:

  1. Navigate to the Messenger application
  2. Tap on the Groups section
  3. Either start a new group by pressing the blue floating action button or select one of your previous group conversations
  4. Click on the Video icon on the upper right side of the screen
  5. You will now be brought into the group video chat while everyone else in the group will get a notification asking them to join
  6. Keep in mind that you will be using a decent amount of data so unless you have an unlimited data plan, best to use Group Video Chat while on WiFi
