PSA: You can now pre-register for Super Mario Run on the Google Play Store

Initially announced and released as an iOS first in mid-December, Super Mario Run now has a Google Play Store listing. While not immediately available, users can pre-register and be alerted when the game is available to download.

Super Mario Run is a one tap 2D side-scrolling platformer. Mario automatically runs through levels with players pressing the screen to jump onto ledges, avoid enemies, and collect coins. The game features three modes:

World Tour

Run and jump with style to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser’s clutches!

Travel through plains, caverns, Ghost Houses, airships, castles, and more..

Toad Rally

Show off Mario’s stylish moves, compete against your friends and challenge people from all over the world.

A challenge mode where the competition differs each time you play.

Compete against the stylish moves of other players for the highest score as you gather coins and get cheered on by a crowd of Toads. If you’re impressive enough, the Toads may even come live in your kingdom.

You can also perform stylish moves to fill up your gauge and launch into Coin Rush!

Kingdom Builder

Gather coins and Toads to build your very own kingdom.

Create your unique kingdom with buildings and decorations that you acquire with the help of Toads gathered in Toad Rally.

There are over 100 kinds of items in the Kingdom Builder feature!

The game is free on iOS with users being able to play level 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and part of 1-4 before needing to buy a $9.99 in-app purchase to unlock 24 levels spanning six worlds. It’s likely that the same pricing model will also come to Android.

While we knew that Super Mario Run would eventually come to Android as part of Nintendo’s broader mobile strategy, we had no concrete date beyond 2017. With the Play Store listing, it’s likely that a launch is coming sooner than later.
