Three months ago Blackberry announced that it would be no longer making their own hardware. This meant that TCL Communications would be producing future Blackberry handsets. A month later, the company’s CEO went on the record to state that they had one more device coming out “soon” that would feature a keyboard.
Images of this upcoming device codenamed “Mercury” leaked several weeks ago and now Blackberry is teasing us with a 4-second video of the phone ahead of its announcement at CES 2017…
Steve Cistulli, President and General Manager of TCL Communication in North America, tweeted out the below teaser which shows a new Blackberry device. In the video, you see a quick shot of what looks to be the handset’s keyboard and a navigation button bar right above it.
The Blackberry “Mercury” is rumored to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, and have a 4.5-inch display. Additionally, it is supposed to have an 18MP rear-facing camera, 8MP front-facing camera, and be powered by a 3,400 mAh battery. These rumored specs are from July of last year so there’s of course a chance that they’ve been changed slightly.
