One of the biggest features to come with the arrival of Android Wear 2.0 and arguably the main selling point for the LG Watch Sport over the Style is the ability to use Android Pay on your wrist. The problem is that not every bank and credit/debit card that currently works for the smartphone version of the application will work on Android Wear.
Specifically, the two banks that are currently unsupported are Citi and Wells Fargo…
Android Police was the first to notice that an Android Pay support page had been updated to reflect the recent addition of Wear. While Citi and Wells Fargo are listed on the page as supported banks, there is now a note that has been added which states, “At this time, these cards aren’t supported on Android Wear.”
Below is the full list of credit and debit cards currently unsupported by Android Wear:
Citi
- Citi Visa Credit
- Citi MasterCard Debit and Credit
- Co-branded: Hilton Visa Credit
- Expedia MasterCard and Visa Credit
- Costco AnyWhere Consumer
- AT&T Mastercard
Wells Fargo
- Consumer Debit Visa
- Consumer Credit Visa and American Express
- Small Business Credit and Debit Visa
As of now, we have no idea why Citi and Wells Fargo cards aren’t supported. It might just have to do with these banks working to fix a bug on their side or they could possibly still be working with Google to make sure the experience for users is flawless.
Besides Citi and Wells Fargo, all banks and cards that are currently supported for Pay on smartphones will work on your Wear device just as long as it is running Android Wear 2.0 and has an NFC chip built-in.
