The Pixel Watch that never was: Looking back at LG Watch Style and Sport

We’re finally coming up on the release of a Google-branded smartwatch, with the tsunami of leaks to prove it. It’s been years that we’ve been waiting for this, but 2022 isn’t the first time Google tried to release a smartwatch. Years ago, Google planned to release what we now know as the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport as its first Wear OS “flagships,” as the “Pixel Watch.”

Thank goodness that didn’t work out.

LG Watch Style Review: Android Wear for those who want the basics done well [Video]

Site default logo image

Smartwatches tend to range from incredibly basic, offering not much more than just notifications, to supercomputers that have everything built-in while also making the watch big and bulky. Ultimately, the smartwatch that most customers want is one that lands somewhere in between these two categories. The LG Watch Style is an Android Wear 2.0 device that resides more on the basic side of the spectrum but at least it does the basics extremely well…

This comparison will take an in-depth look at these two new smartwatches so that you can decide if you would rather have a feature-packed smartwatch that tends to be on the bulkier side or an elegant and slim device that doesn’t do much more than the basics…

LG Watch Style & Watch Sport review roundup: evolutionary software, standard hardware

Site default logo image

Google and LG announced the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport this morning, and there are plenty of reviews for the new smartwatches already pouring in. We’ve yet to get our hands on units (our reviews are on the way!), but so far it looks like the consensus is about what I expected: There’s lots of new useful features in the latest — albeit delayed — version of Android Wear, but in a variety of ways, these watches don’t show it off as well as they could…

We are now less than a week away from the rumored release date of Android Wear 2.0. This comes after Google delayed the official release of the wearable operating system that we got our first look at last summer at Google I/O. The official announcement was rumored to take place on February 9, but now we are hearing that Google has moved up their timeframe and will release the final build of Android Wear 2.0 and LG’s brand new smartwatches on February 8…

Pricing for LG’s upcoming Watch Style said to start at $249

Site default logo image

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I didn’t expect LG/Google’s upcoming Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches to be all that affordable. Personally, I expected LG to follow Motorola’s example with a starting price of at least $299. However, according to Android Police, the LG Watch Style may, in fact, be priced at just $249, at least to start with.
