Today we got our first official look at the LG G6 and while it is miles better than last year’s flagship, it is expected to be lower specced than any of the other flagship phones coming out later this year. Based on everything we do know about the handset, are you considering the G6 as your next smartphone?
Last year, LG’s G5 was a mess of a device. The company tried to make it modular with several accessories that could be attached to the bottom of the phone, but this effort ultimately failed. Additionally, the software experience was far from stellar and the paint on the back of the device took away from what should have felt like a premium metal smartphone.
This year, we are getting a phone with Gorilla Glass on the front and back of the handset, a metal chassis, a fantastic dual-camera setup, and a much-improved software experience running on the latest version of Android. The problem for some, though, is that the LG G6 is shipping with the older Snapdragon 821 processor. While this is still a great CPU, it isn’t as new as the chips that will be available in upcoming devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Another oddity with the G6 are the region restrictions that LG has in place for selling its flagship. In the US, customers will be able to enjoy wireless charging while the rest of the world won’t be able to. The same thing goes for the DAC that we had heard about before its announcement, which will only be available in select Asian markets.
So, we know which US carriers will be selling the LG G6 and what specs will be inside, but now we want to know if you think the phone is worth buying. Answer the poll below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
