OnePlus Watch 2 officially revealed with 100-hour battery life, but will it have Wear OS?

The OnePlus Watch 2 has been officially announced, and while some key details are still being kept under wraps, we’ve got a first look at the product as well as its main focus – battery life.

In a forum post today, OnePlus officially shows off the OnePlus Watch 2.

The new smartwatch is shown in its two colors, “Black Steel” and “Radiant Steel,” with OnePlus confirming several key details. First and foremost, OnePlus Watch 2 will see an official launch date of February 26 – less than a week from today.

OnePlus explains that it took “a three-year hiatus and a reflective pause following the OnePlus Watch 1” which led to this new product. The brand apparently aims to “win the title of the Best Flagship Smartwatch of the year with its market-beating battery life.”

To do that, the OnePlus Watch 2 has 100-hour battery life in its “Smart Mode.”

OnePlus’ post doesn’t explain what “Smart Mode” is or what the watch will be capable of when lasting 100 hours, but it’s a big claim. The Pixel Watch 2, for instance, is only rated for 24 hours of battery life.

Beyond that, the post also confirms that OnePlus Watch 2 will have a stainless steel frame and sapphire glass over the display. OnePlus further promises “unparalleled reliability for everyday use and meticulous health monitoring” on Watch 2.

The big question, though, is whether or not this device actually has Wear OS. Through this whole post from OnePlus, there’s no mention of what software the device is running. That mirrors our frustrations back in 2021, when OnePlus left that key detail out until the last minute. But, with OnePlus saying that it’s time to “do it right” and leaks claiming Wear OS is coming, it certainly seems like we’ll get that. How that’s possible with 100-hour battery life remains to be seen, though.
