Xiaomi 14 Ultra launches in China with 1-inch camera sensor and 5,300 mAh battery

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is set to hit the global stage in just a few days but, ahead of that launch, the company has fully revealed the device in China so we can get an early look at what it will offer.

Like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra before it, this latest generation is a camera-focused flagship headlined by its 1-inch camera sensor. But, unlike its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has a 1-inch sensor from Sony’s new generation of impressive camera sensors that we’ve seen prior to this in devices like the drastically improved OnePlus 12.

The Sony LYT-900 takes up the main camera position in Xiaomi 14 Ultra as a 50MP sensor with dual aperture at f/1.63 and f/4.0. Xiaomi says it can capture 136% more light.

There are three more cameras on the back. An ultrawide and two telephoto lenses. One offers 3.2x optical zoom while the other offers 5x optical zoom. All four cameras put out 50MP resolution.

Outside of the camera, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra should prove beastly. The device has a 6.73-inch OLED LTPO display at 3200×1440 with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel hits peak brightness of 3,000 nits and is covered in (curved) “Shield Glass” which Xiaomi says is 10x stronger when it comes to drops.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage while, on the software side, Android 14 is augmented through Xiaomi’s HyperOS skin. The battery, meanwhile, is huge at 5,300 mAh with 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

The regular Ultra has an aluminum build, but Xiaomi has also launched a “Titanium Special Edition” (pictured above), which also adds two-way satellite communication.

In China, Xiaomi 14 Ultra starts at CNY 6,499. Global pricing will be revealed next week, but is rumored to land at €1,499.
