Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) packs a ton of big upgrades into a stunning red color for $399

Motorola has just unveiled its latest Moto G for 2024, the new Moto G Stylus 5G and it has huge spec upgrades, all for the same price tag.

Available starting on May 30, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) replaces the 2023 model with a few key, and big upgrades. Front and center on that is a new chip and more memory. The Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) has a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 under the hood with 8GB of RAM, up from a mere 4GB on the prior model. That should represent a big boost to the software which, out of the box, runs Android 14.

The device further has a 6.7-inch pOLED display up from an LCD on the previous generation. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, too, and there’s an under-display fingerprint sensor.

Moto G Stylus (2024) further upgrades the battery from 4,000 mAh to 5,000 mAh, and also brings wireless charging at up to 15W. Wired charging is at 30W, too, which is all a big upgrade over prior generations. There’s also a dual-camera setup on the rear that includes a 50MP primary sensor and 13MP ultrawide, and there’s a 32MP selfie camera.

It even has NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside the built-in stylus that gives the phone its name.

That’s all wrapped up in a design that has a faux leather back in two colors. There’s the pretty subdued “Caramel Latte” (which has a green-ish tint for some reason) and the exciting “Scarlet Wave.”

That red is just wonderful.

All in all, it looks like a great year-over-year upgrade.

What’s the catch? The updates, of course. Motorola says the device will get just one OS upgrade (to Android 15), but will get three years of bi-monthly security updates.

What do you think? Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) releases on May 30 unlocked and will also be coming to most US carriers in the following weeks.
