Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are coming to the Galaxy S21 series and other 2021 devices after all, but not in any of the ways we previously expected.
Back in April, it was said that Samsung had plans to bring select AI features to the Galaxy S21 series and its 2021 foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. At the time, a handful of features were mentioned, but Samsung hadn’t made any official announcement.
Then, earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out One UI 6.1 to the Galaxy S21 series, Fold 3, and Flip 3, and everything got even more confusing.
Changelogs for the update confirmed that Samsung was bringing Circle to Search to all three devices, but it was also reported by SamMobile that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was getting access to virtually all Galaxy AI features via the update. That report is still live, but Samsung has confirmed it’s not true.
The Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are all only getting two AI features – Circle to Search and Chat Assist.
Additionally, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip3, and Galaxy Z Fold3 users will have access to Circle to Search with Google and Chat Assist features with the latest software update.
For the S21 and Flip 3, that’s good news, as the two were only thought to get Circle to Search. But Fold 3, on the other hand, will be getting a bit less than was expected based on rumors.
Samsung says that One UI 6.1 is rolling out to these devices, as well as the company’s 2022 flagships, starting this week around the globe.
