The fun little backgrounds seen in Google Calendar events are apparently getting an expansion, as Google is preparing some new “flairs.”
Through the Google Calendar app you’ll see some artistic backgrounds used. These can be found on certain types of events, like holidays and birthdays, as well as in the background of months.
As spotted by Android Authority, Google seems to be preparing to refresh that catalog with some new options.
Behind the scenes in Google Calender v2024.38.0-677549254, there are new backgrounds, called “flairs,” for new types of events, such as a train ticket, as well as updated imagery for the 12 months of the year and birthdays. A list of the new additions was not provided, really just as the list of backgrounds you can encounter in Calendar is quite large, as has been documented on GitHub.
It’s unclear when these new backgrounds might appear, but they’ll be a nice, subtle refresh to the Calendar app whenever they do arrive.
