High quality Huawei Nexus renders published based on “detailed blueprints”

Yesterday the well-known leaker, Steve Hemmerstoffer teamed up with uSwitch to leak digital renders of the purported upcoming LG-made Nexus. Today, the two are back with their first look at what could be this year’s flagship Nexus device. As rumored multiple times, this device is expected to be manufactured by Huawei, one of China’s biggest Android OEMs.

Unlike the LG model, the camera isn’t placed inside a large, centered protrusion on the back. This could be because the device’s body is mostly made from metal, similar to Huawei’s P8 and Ascend Mate series phones. If accurate, we could see a glass panel on the top and bottom with a design that looks similar to Apple’s smartphones from a couple of years back. According to the original post, the color of these top and bottom panels is pure guesswork since blueprints normally don’t reveal color schemes/materials.

The camera and its dual-LED flash are housed inside the top glass panel, which appears to be slightly raised from the rest of the phone, forming a bump near the top.

There’s also a fingerprint sensor in the back colored to match — and be disguised within — the phone’s chassis. What’s more, there’s a USB Type-C connector on the bottom edge. All this is housed in a phone which is only 6.6mm at its thinnest point and 8.5mm at its thickest.

Another feature up for debate is the screen size. Huawei has allegedly been testing both 5.5-inch and 5.7-inch models of the Nexus, with the latter being the most likely option. If LG is going with a 5.2-inch screen for its 2015 Nexus 5, then 5.7-inches certainly makes the most sense for the larger phone.

We should be expecting an official Nexus unveiling at some point between now and the holiday season, with a launch in Q4. Until that announcement is made, however, this is all just rumors. Regardless of how well sourced they are, plans can still change.
