T-Mobile’s LG G4 begins receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow

With Marshmallow only on 1.2% of phones, the latest and greatest version of Android has a long way to go. Luckily, the OTA update for the LG G4 on T-Mobile started rolling out yesterday.

According to the carrier, the update started yesterday and a small set of users have already reported receiving it. Android 6.0 brings the phone’s software to version H81120i, with users currently on H81110n, H81110h, and H81110d receiving the update. For those who are impatient, the update can be installed manually with the LG Bridge application. Otherwise, owners should expect the update in the next few weeks.

The update requires your phone to be charged up at least half way and have 963 MB of storage free to download the update. Interestingly, it’s still Android 6.0 (versus the latest 6.0.1 with new emoji) and it is only on the January security patch.

Better late than never, but this OTA comes as LG gets ready to announce their next flagship at the Mobile World Congress on February 21. The LG G5’s most interesting feature should be a hardware port for accessories to attach to. Hopefully, their software will be on par with their usually excellent hardware.
